  • Arc de Triomphe

    Monument at the top of the Champs-Elysees. Symbol of the high point of Napoleon's reign. Opening times: 1 April - 30 Sept 10:00-23:00 and 1 Oct - 31 March 10:00-22.30 Closed on public holidays. Metro: Charles de Gaulle - Etoile

  • Arenes de Lutece

    The only Gallo-Roman remains to be seen in Paris other than the "Thermes de Cluny". Built between the 1rst and end of the 2nd century. Summer: 9:00-21:30 winter: 8:00-17:30 At 47 rue Monge (Arr 5) Metro: Monge

  • Conciergerie

    Example of medieval architecture and former prison during the French Revolution. Tour of cells inculding that of Marie-Antoinette. Opening schedule, winter: 10:00-17:00 and summer: 9:30-18:30 Located at 2 bd du Palais (Arr 1) Metro: Cite

  • Eiffel Tower

    This world famous monument is 324 metres high and weighs 10,100 tons. Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 for the World Fair at which it was the star attraction. The tower is open every day 9:30-23:00. Closed after lunch 14 July (Arr 7) Mero: Bir-Hakeim.

  • Invalides

    Military museum housing Napoleon's Tomb. Open: 10:00-17:00 in winter and until 18:00 in summer. Closed for public holidays and the first Monday of each month. Situated at Esplanade des Invalides (Arr 7) Metro:Latour-Maubourg/Invalides/St Francois-Xavier

  • Montparnasse tower

    At a height of 210 metres, the view from the roof terrace can be up to 40 km in clear weather. Europe's fastest elevator travels to a height of 196 meters. Open from 9:30-22:30. At 33 ave du Maine (Arr 15) Metro: Montparnasse-Bienvenue.

  • National Assembly

    Seat of French parliament built by famous architects including Giardini, Gabriel and Aubert. Individual visits on Saturday at 10 am, 2 pm and 3pm. Proof of identity required. Free admission and tour. At 33 bis, Quai d'Orsay (Arr 7) Metro: Assemblee-Na

  • Palais Garnier - Opera National de Paris

    Built by Charles Garnier, it's construction was initiated by Napoleon III. It is an historical monument and is open to visitors during the day. Opera and ballet works are mainly performed here. Place de l'Opera (Arr 9) Metro: Opera.

  • Pantheon

    Masterpiece by Soufflot which became a necropolis for "great men" at the time of the French Revolution. Tours of the nave and crypt. Permanent exhibit of Foucault's pendulum. At Place du Pantheon (Arr 5) Metro: Cardinal-Lemoine

  • Tour Saint Jacques

    The only remaining part of the former 16th century Church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie. Park open to the public but the tower is currently closed due to safety concerns. 88 rue de Rivoli (Arr 4). Metro: Chatelet
