RESEARCH OFFICER, AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY
Gross Monthly Salary € 2601.99 * 13 months

The position is full-time (35 hours per week) and will be available early January 2010.

Duty Statement
1. Undertake research and prepare reports and analysis on political and economic developments in France;
2. Create and maintain a database of biographies of key figures in France and other countries of accreditation; prepare biographies as required;
3. Liaise with French judicial authorities over requests for mutual assistance in legal matters from the Australian Government; draft Third Person Notes; follow up cases as required;
4. Translate documents from French into English. Prepare correspondence in English and French as required;
5. Organise visit programs for senior Australian officials and assist with preparation and organisation of Ministerial visits, including making appointments and arranging logistics in conjunction with other sections; accompany visitors as required;
6. Attend conferences and seminars as required; develop the Embassy's relations with think tanks and research institutions;
7. Monitor and report on developments in other countries of accreditation (e.g Morocco, Algeria and Mauritania), including through media and government websites;
8. Other duties as required.
General requirements
• Applicants must submit a copy of a valid work permit/visa for employment in France. Applications that do not specifically address and satisfy this requirement will not be considered.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is essential. Applicants being considered for the position may be required to undertake, and if so pass at a high level, oral and written tests in English and French.
• High level skills in IT systems and internet are essential. Applicants being considered for the position may be required to undertake a test to demonstrate their capacity to use such software.
