Tax d'Habitation

Hello,

So my situation is that I moved into an apartment in the 20th in Paris before Christmas 2008. My landlord told me that she hasn't received a Tax d'Habitation in 3 years; even after going to the office and trying. I was wondering if I could get some advice on what I should do. Should I try and go to the office myself in the 20th and try and get the stuff for 2008? Or should I let my landlord deal with it? Or will the government eventually find me? I moved to a new apartment in September. If I should go to the office myself, when is the appropriate time to go? Should I go now or wait until next year?

Thanks for your help!

It is up to you to pay the tax d'habitation. If you did a tax declaration for last year then you should get your tax bill through.

If you didn't declare any tax last year in France, then that is a different matter, I would go along to the tax office to clear it up and avoid paying 10 percent extra.
