Advice for aged visitors to Paris !

lolla writes in General

My aged (nearly 80) inlaws have expressed a desire to visit Paris...they would like to come by train, from the coast, through brittany, the Loire and onto Paris, to se parts of France they haven't before, which is no problem !

Have you any advice for when they arrive in paris ? Where to stay, for a few nights, reasonable price but nice, where they should go, which areas to visit....easiest way to travel around the city...they are very sprightly...but there is no getting away from their age now and they only speak a little french.....

Thank you in anticipation !

What a good question! The busses are definitely more fun than the metros and no steps (!!!); but you need to have an idea of where what you want to see is...but they do afford a nice way of sitting down and seeing the city pass by.

What are their interests - gardens, museums, café life, shopping...?
Also, sure they are sprightly - but would they be up for a walking tour? Always a great way to discover Paris

Cooking/wine tours or classes; Paris nightlife (well...you did say the were sprightly) the list is endless

Thanks Camille - great idea for the busses....they are spritely, but wouldnt want to walk a long way, prefer to sit and watch the world go by....its one of those things they promised themselves to 'do before I die'....

They just want to have the experience, I think once there a terraced cafe would suit them for a few hours, and some lovely food !...

I would love to know a fairly central place to stay for a couple of days ( not too expensive!) that has good access to the TGV and links...

I also wondered about a personalised tour, by car ( dont think mother is up to a vespa although its a great idea !)
