Hello fellow parents,

We (American/French) couple) have two children in primary/collège here in France who will "probably" want to attend university in the States.

To prepare, we would like to start investing now, but most programs seem to be for US residents only. (I am a US citizen, but I reside in France. Both children have US citizenship, too).

Anyone have experience with college investment programs :
- prepaid tuition programs (ie that lock in the tuition rate at time of investment contract)
- with guaranteed principle (so you do not lose the initial investment sum, no matter what)
- that are flexible, in case the child decides to change universities / states (must be careful with state-based programs), or decides not to do their studies in the States at all

For info, I am originally from Michigan, which has good a state-based pre-paid tuition program - Michigan Investment Trust - but you have to be a resident at the time of the investment.

Have you contacted the AAWE http://aaweparis.org/pages/Whoarewe.html Not sure but as they are made up of Americans permanently resident in France they might have some answers for you
