Trouble getting a train ticket

DaveC writes in General

I need to go to Morocco on June 4 and I want to go by train, but I am having some difficulty getting a train ticket. I have checked at two travel agencies near me in the 18th to get a ticket to Morocco. I was told that it is not possible to take a train to Morocco. I know it is not possible to take a train all of the way and that I have to take the ferry between Spain and Tangiers, duh. I want to see if I can book the trip all of the way to Rabat. I ask about getting a train to the South of Spain and I am told the same thing that there are no trains to Spain, which I find very bizarre. I visited the SNCF website only to be told that there are no seats for late afternoon of June 4 and that I should visit or call the SNCF office in London. What, am I supposed to take the Eurostar to London so I can buy a ticket to Paris so I can connect to a passenger train? This is getting very surreal. How do I get a train ticket? Where do I need to go and whom do I need to talk to? I do not necessarily need to take the TGV since my arrival date is basically when I get there, I get there. Please, someone, help!!!

An intelligent guess, says about 4 trains a day leave Perpignan for Spain, maybe you can only get as far as the border in France on the sncf, then you must use the equivalent!?

Marsbar, Thank you for the information. Does Por Bou mean Porte de Boulogne? Where are Por Bou and Perpignan, are they in Paris? Once I get to Tangiers it is just a matter of going to the train station and buying a ticket to Rabat, I was trying to see at the travel agencies if I could book the ticket all the way to Rabat. I am insulted by how rude the agents were when I questioned, politely, that there are no trains to Spain. I thought the agent at the second agecy was going to call the police if I did not get out of there, which I did mumbling my disbelief at what I had been told. I still cannot figure out why they told me this wrong information.

perpignan, is one of the last big cities before the spanish border in the south, about 10 trains a day go there, from paris, port bou is a little further south & on the border of France & Spain.

Thank you. Where exactly in Paris should I buy a ticket to Perpignan or Por Bou, if not to the South of Spain? I do not believe this is so difficult.
