Children singing, sleigh-bells ringing...
As the year draws to an end the towns of France - and some of the smaller mairies - tend to have "Christmas Villages" where you can buy seasonal foods (chestnuts actually roasting on an open fire, for example), the kids can ride on carousels or skate in the temporary ice rinks, and where you may see a live-animal crèche.
Out and about
